Have any of my collecting brethren been faced with the dilemna of finally having found an original LSD but was put off by the negative appearance of the coin? I recall an occasion when I had the choice to purchase a no-brainer original crust coin but was put off by the lack of eye appeal. Not long ago, I spotted a dark and splotchy brown 1852 LSD (graded au58 in an NGC holder) but could not bring myself to fork over healthy five-figures money for it. This is a series that is characterized by too few original specimens. Ugly original coins narrow the pool of eligible coins yet further.
